DIET INDUSTRY – HOW TO STOP THE REPETITIVE CYCLE

The diet industry is an over 70 billion dollar money making machine in the USA alone! In Canada where I live it is about 7 billion dollars a year. The diet industry makes a HUGE amount of money.

Weight loss that is fast due to starvation-like intake, is not safe. The diet industry does not make money if you are successful at losing weight and keeping it off. The diet industry makes billions and billions of dollars because you keep having to come back.

There are safe and effective programs out there without a doubt, and they can help you lose weight. BUT … being successfully taught healthy and safe eating practices, along with habit change would eliminate the need to go back and you would not need to lose the same weight for the second or third time.

STOP THE CYCLE

This is why I stick with livefatandfit ideals. Self-care, intellectual growth, movement, moderation and motivation are all necessary to be well. The most important factor when and if you choose to lose weight for health reasons is habit change. You can reduce your calories and lose weight without a doubt. Yet, as soon as you revert back to your old habits, the weight will return and POOF the cycle repeats itself.

Habits are about triggers and how we respond to them. How To Start New Habits That Actually Stick is a great article by James Clear that illustrates this and gives great habit changing info. I am not telling you not to lose weight. I am not telling you to lose weight. This is not my business. My business is giving you knowledge and helping you change habits so that you can be well regardless of what the numbers on the scale say. The effect of weight on your health is between you and your Primary Care Provider, but I can tell you that losing over and over is not healthy either.

WE KNOW WHAT IS BEST

Often we know exactly what we need to do to be healthy. We know what we should be eating and some of us choose not to. We know we should be moving more and many of us have never made movement a habit. Spiritual and intellectual change are part of the journey.

I strive with livefatandfit.com to help you with habits and to give you information, as I believe knowledge is power. My desire is to help you to help yourself so that you can decide if you are well and happy as you are or whether change is needed and necessary.

A habit on average takes 66 days to stick. New, healthy, hopeful and self-caring habits are not going to be established overnight. This journey has been a lifetime commitment for me. Change is not quick or easy. Be aware if you are looking for help that the most important thing you are looking for is to not have to repeat this process over and over, you want to create habits that lead to better health and can be lived for a lifetime.
