LEARN THESE LESSONS NOW
Have you ever said to your children that you want them to learn these lessons now? Or learn from my mistakes! Take my advice. I have most definitely said these things to my daughter when she was younger, I still do and she is almost 36-years-old.
I decided to sit down because I realized I was feeling this way about YOU! Why? As many of us do by the age of 58-years-old, I feel I have learned some lessons I can pass on. So why not? Should you have to wait to learn what I know now? I can find no good reason for that, so here I am.
YOU ARE THE ONLY PERSON YOU CAN CONTROL
I cannot make my daughter learn that dwelling too much on loss is hurtful. That this amounts to you, hurting you.
As I am working to bring readers to this site daily, I can only do the work and hope you are interested.
The minds of the haters in the world, those who see colour as different, shape as offensive, place of birth as dangerous, these minds cannot be controlled. We can influence them, we can show them what we know, but we cannot control their thoughts and actions. We can help them to do better!
I DO NOT MAKE MISTAKES
This thing I KNOW brings me some backlash at times. People find this arrogant. Let me explain. I was born knowing this. I can remember at a very young age thinking that mistakes really do not exist. Certainly, sometimes I do things I should not. We all do. There is a lot of trash talk that comes out of peoples mouths, there is a lot of action that is dishonourable, disrespectful and down right ignorant at times. HOWEVER, what I know is that this is not mistake. Whether we are talking about words or actions, I AM LEARNING FROM THEM. You are learning from them. All action is an opportunity to learn. Injustice is horrible and brings pain and often we feel there is a lot of it, but the GOOD is that we have the opportunity to learn and IMPROVE, both ourselves and the world.
THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND ME
Another thing that gets said a lot to kids. The world does not revolve around you. At a young age it actually does, both for parents and for the children, until a certain age. As a parent, one of our jobs is to teach children selflessness. Do not confuse this with not needing self-care or to take care of ourselves. This is a different issue. Self-care is not selfish. Here, I mean regard for others.
I look at what is going on in and around me in the world. It is SO BIG. In 2020, the world population was 7.8 billion. When I need to remind myself of this lesson I do this exercise in my mind. First, I list the members of my immediate family. We are only 4 at this time. I move on to my family of origin, sibling, in-laws, great nieces and nephews. I think we are 44 now. Next, my community, my province, my country and so on! With all these people around me, with so many amazing minds, so much need, the world is not about me being at the core of this circle. The shear numbers make me aware that I am but one and I can radiate what I know morally and socially, be responsible and help where I can.
THERE IS ALWAYS A CHOICE … ALWAYS!
For me this lesson brings it all together. I do not make mistakes. I learn lessons. The world does not revolve around me, I am part of this global community and it is my responsibility to treat you and the planet we live on well. I get to choose when, how or with what magnitude. What my neighbours sees is not me. They live their life and make their choices. I mine. However, no man is an island.
I believe there is always a choice. You have only to know the lessons now and use them to make yours.
THESE LESSONS NOW
This week at livefatandfit.com I added The Important Mind-Body Connection and Simple Meditation – My Way to the site. I bring these lessons together with this post. Taking care of your mind and your body allows you to learn the lessons YOU need to learn. THEY MAY OR MAY NOT BE THESE LESSONS. There is no such thing as too much knowledge. Knowledge is power and the more we take care of our minds, bodies and share our knowledge, the better place the world would be.
Beside, the World Wide Web fosters a global community like nothing before ever has. Put it to good use!
