A new livefatandfit.com follower commented “Love These Berries” regarding the picture accompanying my post Simple and Moderate Eating Tips. One of the tips in this post mentioned superfoods. Superfoods are nutrient-rich foods. They are considered to be beneficial for health and well-being. Berries are one of the worlds yummiest super foods.

WHY BERRIES?

Berries are among the healthiest foods you can eat. Berries help improve blood sugar and insulin response. They are very high in fibre and adding them to a meal helps you feel more full. Berries are full of antioxidants that fight free radicals in your body and can help you stave off heart disease and cancer. Berries have anthocyanidins. Anthocyanidins you ask? Yup, a flavonoid that helps you to keep your brain sharp. This superfood also helps to reduce inflammation and reduce the effects of stress in our body.

Blueberries are the best of the best! Sciencedaily.com reports that eating blueberries every day (3/4 cup) improves your heart health. Strawberries are high in vitamin C and grapes (that are considered a berry) may help decrease cholesterol. Adult health is best served by eating 2 cups of fruit a day and for optimal health you can include berries every day.

NATURE’S CANDY

One of my daughter’s favourite candies are Swedish Berries. I have been known to ask for a few when she is eating them and a week or so ago I was adding some berries to my morning cereal and I popped a berry into my mouth. Immediately, I realized that they tasted exactly like the candies my daughter enjoys. Why eat candy when you can eat the real thing and get all of the amazing health benefits they bring with them?

Berries are finger foods. You can easily add them into your day. Add berries to your smoothies, toss them into your salad. Put berries on top of pancakes and up the tastiness of your breakfast. You can freeze berries into your ice cubes for fun cold drinks and you can blend them into easy jam!

My suggestion is that you LOVE THESE BERRIES and do not leave the grocery store without some – I NEVER DO!
