MAKE MOTIVATION BIG
In order to remain motivated you NEED to make motivation BIG. The bigger the better is my theory. Today, I am going to give you what I consider to be the 3 best BIG motivational tools I know.
THE BIG THREE
- The why that makes you cry.
- Conventional motivational tools like pictures and quotes.
THE WHY THAT MAKES YOU CRY
First, I must tell you this is not an original idea. You can find lots of information around this idea on the Internet. I have not been able to trace its’ origin, but can tell you that 360 Your Life has a great article posted. This idea is about finding your purpose any my way of finding it goes like this …
Ask yourself WHY? Why do I want to be well? Why do I want to have healthy long lasting habits?
My answer is because I intend to live to 100 years old and see my grandsons become adults living the life they choose to live.
THEN again as yourself why … because I am really thrilled about seeing them grow into young men and would love to be part of their lives for as long as I can.
WHY? Because my love for them is greater and different than any other love I have ever felt?
WHY? Because they are the embodiment of the best of my best, that being my daughter.
WHY? Because as a human my best accomplishment is my daughter and I want to share life with her for as long as I can.
WHY? Because by doing that I will feel successful WHEN I DRAW MY FINAL BREATH.
There you have it. Now I am near tears with the why that makes me cry … fear of not feeling successful when I move on from this world. I have identified what makes me feel successful and taking care of my health always comes back to that WHY. I suggest you write it down!
This is a principle many people do NOT think about when it comes to health and habits. I have and I believe many of you have spent my life in search of better health. This has lead to a lot of LYNNE BASHING. It has lead to thinking thoughts of failure, thoughts of inadequacy etc. Summed up it has lead to a lot of negativity. The goal is to be free of that negativity.
Hang onto how you feel when you have a run of “doing well” whatever that looks like for your. That may be 2 or 3 days when you have followed your health plan and you feel GREAT. Then remind yourself that the longer the run, the more freedom you gain. Freedom from the negativity. Freedom from your body feeling unwell.
Taking care of yourself as the RULE rather than the EXCEPTION increases the positivity in your life. This positivity gives you FREEDOM from the self-bashing ways and leads to more success. Stay the course and win your FREEDOM.
CONVENTIONAL MOTIVATIONAL TOOLS
The Internet is full of places where you can get daily motivation sent to your inbox. You can get quotes, pictures, posts, all of it sent right to you every day. Google “motivational quotes” and take your pick. I like to turn motivational quotes into mantras and my mantra may change overtime as I change and grow. The Strive has a list of 25 Motivational Mantras That Actually Work. My favourite is “excellence does not require perfection.” You may also want to read Imperfectly Perfect – One And All. Working on understanding that I am imperfectly perfect is really helping me with everyday motivation.
I am a spiritual person and my fallback mantra is “God and I are one.” The universe was created to be ALIVE, to move, to grow, to change. I am one with that universe and not expected to be static, perfect or unchanging. Every day is different and having daily motivational tools can really be helpful.
TO SUM IT UP
My why that makes me cry will be different than yours – FIND YOURS. What freedom looks like to me, will be different from what freedom looks like to you – DEFINE FREEDOM. My daily motivation may not be what motivates you. MOTIVATE YOU!
The 3 ideas presented here will help you to MAKE MOTIVATION BIG. Keeping it big is your task. The most important relationship in your life is with you. Build a BIG MOTIVATIONAL PLAN. Remember you are a work in progress and that all progress leads to freedom and success.
