MY YEARS OF LIVING FAT AND FIT

My years of living fat and fit began in my 30’s! It is hard to know where to begin. Living a fat and fit lifestyle encompasses so many things and I do not want to get stuck on the fat part or the numbers on the scale. Life is really not about numbers. It is so much more about how I feel about myself and how I care for myself.

Self-care and health go hand-in-hand. With the pounds and age, I have found it is hard to have health without self-care. I have gone through really long periods in time where I was not doing the most I could to take care of ME, but it always come back to the same thing. Now, I feel like I am spending my days doing my best job taking care of me. Knowing I can be fat, fit and well. THESE THINGS CAN COEXIST. My story is all about wellness.

Health and fitness are important to me; having a normal blood pressure, blood sugar and heart rate, remind me that I am well. I have to EAT to survive and move to be FIT. I have to take care of my MIND, to truly consider myself well. What is more more important, the body or the mind? Without a doubt, the mind and body are connected and I would argue vehemently that a good state of mind is the MOST IMPORTANT feature of wellness.

ME AND LIVEFATANDFIT

Years and years ago I started exercising daily, usually with CD workouts. Then, as a group fitness instructor and/or a personal trainer, I was CRAZY fit! Some days I worked out more than once in a day. I felt it was important for my client’s motivation to workout with them, so I did. All of them, every day. My goal was to follow the three M’s of healthy living; movement, moderation and motivation. I often lacked in the moderation category and excelled in the movement category. My BMI never found its way to the normal weight range. I was the embodiment of FAT AND FIT.

As it happens, later in life, my struggles have changed. Changing as we age is part of living. We get wiser and our priorities change. I think this is pretty common, but I also think it depends on many factors. There are absolutely people who have remained crazy fit as they age. This is not the case with me. So now, movement and moderation are the struggle for me. I mix yoga and stretching, I walk in the spring, summer and fall and I strive for moderation in fueling my body. Blogging livefatandfit.com is absolutely helping me to stay healthy!

MY RETURN TO MY PASSION

I have returned to my passion, a manner of teaching about a fat and fit lifestyle. Blogging about health and fitness helps me and it helps you. There is a lot to know and I get questioned often. I love to write and maintaining my livefatandfit.com blog keeps me on my toes. No one is perfect, but I believe I must practice what I preach and that thought keeps me moving forward. When I am slacking on my health and fitness journey I look to this site for support, from my words, as well as from you the reader. I am looking for awareness.

UPDATE

Today, March 27th, 2021, as I reread this I have learned so many things since the above first post. This is truly a shared journey. I have been asked if I am trying to keep people fat? I have been asked if I am trying to get people to lose weight. Neither is true. I WORK TO HELP people with HEALTH and WELLNESS on the journey to live their best life every day!
